The Alaskabou is a fly made almost entirely of marabou, which means it breathes and pulses in the current like something that is simultaneously alive and deeply uncertain about its future. King salmon, who by the time they reach freshwater are not technically feeding, nevertheless find this pulsing mass of feathers irritating enough to eat. The logic of salmon fishing is no logic at all, and the Alaskabou embraces this fully.
