The hellgrammite is the larval form of the dobsonfly, and it looks like something from a creature feature -- pinchers, legs everywhere, and an attitude problem. Smallmouth bass eat them the way a retired linebacker eats steak: enthusiastically and in large quantities. This imitation crawls through the rocks with enough realism to make an entomologist nod approvingly.
