Enrico Puglisi's synthetic fibers changed saltwater fly tying the way the printing press changed literature -- suddenly everyone could do it, but the original was still the best. This Northeast version is tied to match the local baitfish -- spearing, herring, anchovies -- with a translucent body that lets light pass through it the way it does through a real fish. It sheds water in one backcast, survives bluefish, and catches everything. If this sounds like a commercial, consider it an honest review from approximately ten thousand satisfied stripers.

The universal Clouser adapted for Northeast waters. Lead eyes sink it into the strike zone in estuaries and back bays. Chartreuse/white is the classic, but olive/white imitates the local sand eels.
