When the Loligo squid move inshore in June, the Northeast coast transforms into a buffet and every striper gets a reservation. This fly imitates the squid that stripers, blues, and fluke gorge on -- a tubular body with trailing saddle-hackle tentacles that pulse in the current like something from a nature documentary. Squid swim backward, which is either an evolutionary advantage or a design flaw. Either way, strip this pattern with darting, erratic pulls and wait for the inevitable.
