That is the whole recipe. And it outfishes elaborate patterns with such consistency that it has driven generations of fly tiers to philosophical crisis. Named for New Mexico's San Juan River, where it was popularized by guides tired of watching clients miss hooksets on size 22 midges. Sometimes the simplest answer is the best one, and the trout have been telling us this the entire time.
