False albacore are what happens when you give a tuna the speed of a missile and the selectivity of a wine critic. They want small, sparse, and moving at roughly the speed of panic. This downsized Clouser uses bead chain eyes instead of lead because albies feed in the upper water column and the fly needs to stay there. Tie it sparse. Fish it fast. Miss the first twelve shots. Connect on the thirteenth and feel your backing disappear. That is albie fishing.
