The marriage of a crab pattern and Clouser eyes is one of those ideas so obvious in retrospect that you wonder why it took so long. The lead eyes flip the fly hook-up to avoid snags in rocky structure while the crab body does its impression of something worth eating. Stripers rooting around jetties for crabs are not being selective -- they are being opportunistic, and this fly is the opportunity. Fish it along the bottom, feel the tap, set the hook. Repeat until your arm hurts.
